Back To Books Shednologist Lucy Anderson - Fields and Fences Panel Progress

The Field and Fence panel has become something of a passion for poet Lucy Anderson and she has been a regular shednologist in Carole's studio this summer.

This is Lucy's first experience of mosaic making

every week the panel grows a bit more

During the course of the afternoon there is much tea, talk, a bit of singing and if Carole is very lucky, some new poems to enjoy!

We can't wait to see it when it's finished.

Carole originally intended this sheepdog

seen resting along the Valley way to feature in the panel

but later decided to edit him out in favour of  a simple slice of coutryside.

If you would like to read some of Lucy's poems, visit the Made in Northamptonshire Shop before July 26th where her work responds to the drawings of artist Minnie Teckman in the collaborative exhibition drawn from Minnie's Project Dogwalk. Here is a link to a blogpost about the exhibition. There are also many lovely things to buy in the shop made by artists and craftspeople in the county.

Litchborough Back To Books Group Panel

We made a welcome return to Litchborough Village hall to meet with some of our members at the other end of the county who wanted to take part in our Brampton Valley Way mosaic project Marking A Fine Line.

It was fantastic to meet up with members who had taken part in Invisible Threads, Felting the Landscape or who

had come on some of the photography walks of 2012.

Mosaic making was a new art form to most of the group

but they were soon nippering tiles and applying them to their section with gusto!

A brief lunch break

It was another enjoyable day in a beautiful part of the county with a fantastic group of people. Many thanks to artist and member Sonia Hawes who contacted the participants and booked the hall on our behalf. Sonia always makes sure that people in her area know about our events, is a keen walker, social historian, gardener, writer, reader, workshop leader who has a huge passion and commitment to the countryside and the arts! You can find out more about her activities, workshops and adventures here

The panel is off to a flying start!

Scoping the Brampton Valley Way (again!)

We had always hoped to site mosaic way markers along the valley way and it has taken three years to raise the money - many thanks to Northamptonshire Community Foundation and Midlands Cooperative Society for helping to make this dream a reality.

Under the bridge looks like a good place

Near this bench perhaps?

Artist Carole Miles will be creating 12 designs based on photographs taken during our photography walks. Carole will make 6 panels herself and work with groups and individuals on the other 6. We are excited to see what she will come up with!
