Cushion The Landscape is the second part of our New Vistas project at the Cube as part of The Big Draw 2011. We thought that working with soft materials like textiles and threads would act as a good foil against the angular geometry of The Cube and would provide an interesting set of views of the changing landscape seen from its windows and secret spaces. Having been briefed by artist Carole Miles and Tresham Textile Tutor Marie Taylor, First Year students at Tresham College set to work interpreting some of the photographs Carole had taken from the Cube. They have been Drawing with thread, both by hand and by machine, we're really delighted to see how they are taking shape!
